Meet Amil "Millie" Mangum,

Amil "Millie" Mangum is a 19 year old  self-taught photographer/ videographer from Durham, NC. She is a student at North Carolina Central University majoring in Mass Communication with a minor in Writing.

Mangum entered into the world of art at the age of 9 and photography at the age of 12. Although she was without a camera at the time, her godfather, who is a photographer, would allow her to use his Nikon camera do test shots. 

Mangum enjoys to do portrait photography and to capture people’s emotions very up close. She also enjoys to capturing photos that tell stories that have different meanings behind them.

Photography has become a way for Mangum to express herself without sharing her emotions, and to share how she feels through the concept of her photos.

In high school, Mangum took classes on photography, but felt as though she did not obtain enough information on the craft. While in class, Mangum would conduct research to learn about the world of photography on her own.

Mangum desires to pursue photography for the rest of her life, and aspires to become an international photographer.

After college, Mangum plans to move to Charlotte. After a living in Charlotte for a few years, Mangum aspires to relocated to New York City or San Diego.
