YOUTUBER FEATURE: Malcolm Beamon
Malcolm Beamon is a Mass Communication major at North Carolina Central University. He is the CEO of “Mpower Productions," which is the name of his apparel line.
When Beamon was in the process of starting a clothing line, he wanted a name that would not only stand out to people, but motivate others as well.
"When people look at my apparel they believe I picked the name because my name starts with the letter 'M', but I am here to say that isn’t the case. I picked the word Mpower because of the word “empower” which means: make (someone) stronger and more confident, especially in controlling their life and claiming their rights, and I took the “E” out because Mpower is a different way of saying empower. I want people to see that it’s okay to be different and create new things, through my brand."
Beamon's overall goal is to start a podcast. This podcast will provide a platform for people in the arts to show the world what they do best, and encourage others to not give up on their aspirations. Mpower is more than just a brand, it’s a movement.
